When you add videos in your posts, you add external codes in your posts that need to be loaded, so it take more time to load and increase the loading time of your site. Lazy loading videos replaces the videos with a clickable image. Therefore, images are smaller than videos so this way it greatly improves your site speed.

How to Add Lazy Loading for Videos

First thing, you need to install lazy loading plugins for videos. This plugin work out of the box and you do not need to extra codes for this matter. To view that your lazy load work, view the posts that contain a YouTube or Vimeo video, you noticed that the default player replaced with a clickable image.

When you click the image, it plays the video. It takes slightly more time to play your videos but don’t think lazy loading does not work.

This plugin support YouTube and Vimeo videos and has default settings. However, on the post editor screen you can modify it according to your wishes. On the general settings tab, you customize the appearance of the video, play button style and use custom CSS codes.

On YouTube tab, You can choose thumbnails, color settings and even disable lazy load for YouTube Videos and many more. Same way you can customize Vimeo settings on its tab.
